We don’t need Guillen in left field once, then Marcus Thames, then Clete Thomas, then Gary Sheffield We don’t need third base to be Inge and then Guillen. We don’t need the DH to be Guillen, and then Miguel Cabrera, and then Sheffield, and then Magglio. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, FIND SOMETHING THAT WORKS.In the bullpen, we need more stability! I pray more than a married, Catholic homosexual that Rodney and Zumaya don’t have any more setbacks. Another thing nobody else on the team can say, outside of Polanco.I love Magglio, but what’s with him taking about 12 pitches in his last nine at bats combined? Come on.We need continuity. Sure, maybe he hits into a lot of double plays and his average is down, but he walks, which is something that nobody else on the team can say Also, he doesn’t strike out. We need to find some way to put Inge at third base every day, but never let him dig into the box Someone make this happen There has to be a loophole somewhere Please?Everyone’s calling for Gary Sheffield to get cut I beg to differ I think he’s still a good component of this team. Make him the lefty long-reliever.This is the only time in my life I’ve ever wished that baseball had a designated-player rule, like softball does.
His deception is no longer a surprise, he has no pitches with movement, and he doesn’t have a good fastball (anymore) Willis should never sniff the starting rotation again. I don’t even want to get into it because it’s a touchy subject with me, but I will anyway. Why in God’s name is Dontrelle Willis still getting an opportunity to start? If I can realize this, the Detroit coaches and management have to realize it, but Willis is straight garbage He was a fluke in Florida, and he’s already proven it. The window is still wide open for this team to win. The Rest of the 2008 SeasonExamining the pitching staff first. Everyone take a deep breath and think about this: Our big hitters will be here next year, and the year after that, and the year after that This isn’t our only season to win. Putting all that behind us, let’s examine the rest of the 2008 season, and look into the future. This season, our beloved Tigers were bestowed with the title of “Potential 1,000-Run Team.” It’s not going to happen this year, big deal. That trade alone should bring in good enough prospects for the future.
The Seattle Mariners seem like the obvious destination. This article is also featured on . I’m on the verge of writing the Tigers off for 2008, but not quite yet.Everyone already knows about the different newspaper reports that have come out (Grilli saying there’s no chemistry, racially divided locker room, etc.), so we don’t have to talk about that. The Reds offense is going to look very good next season, but they need to go out and get a pitcher behind Aaron Harang.Once Ken Griffey, Jr. hits his 600th homerun, they will likely shop Griffey around. The Reds do not have much depth in their minor league system right now, so there isn’t anyone that could replace him right away. The Reds have been overwhelmed lately by rookie sensation Jay Bruce, who is hitting .591 with two home runs and six RBI in six games this season. But, free agent-to-be Adam Dunn is also hitting well, clobbering his 15th home run today. The Reds have a decision to make with Dunn: either build a team around him and Jay Bruce, or trade him for a bunch of prospects.Dunn is just 28-years old and is on pace for another 40 home run season, so it makes sense for the Reds to give him a long term deal.
Persie, Adebayor Subs Fabianski, Senderos, Walcott, Diaby, Bendtner.Note: Eduardo is not included because he is injured. For Arsenal to win silverware this season, I think they need to sign a new winger to replace Hleb and a foil for Fabregas in the middle of the park. Nasri and Yaya Toure would look a good fit, but time will tell. By Drew Jones . CF Carlos Vela - Likely to fight for a first team spot on the wings or up front.Arsenal actually have a number of England youth internationals coming through. This could be handy considering the possibility of the ‘6+5′ rule coming into play.Arsenal’s best side right now is probably Almunia, Sagna, Clichy, Toure, Gallas(c), Eboue, Rosicky, Fabregas, Gilberto, v. LW Keiran Gibbs – Could feature on the left, certainly in the league cup.
CM Fran Merida – Prototype of Cesc Fabregas. Left footed so could operate centrally or on the left. CM Henri Lansbury – Wenger has earmarked him in the press as a potential Carling Cup youngster. AM Nacer Barazite – Ditto AM Jack Wilshere – Even at 17 Wenger said he could make the step up to the first team this season. AM Mark Randall – Player in a similar mould to a young David Bentley, could get a run on either flank. Has matured into a quality goal scorer. If Robin can put together a full season, he could crack 20-30 goals. Those goals might be the difference between success and failure for Arsenal. Needs to improve on the nine from last season.CF Eduardo – Looked in decent form before his injury. If he can re-emulate the form he was showing when he settles into the groove again, he could prove important.CF Nicklas Bendtner – The young Dane looks a great prospect for the Gunners. His heading ability has already returned a winner against Spurs and an equalizer against Liverpool. Nine goals from 17 starts in all competitions isn’t such a bad return for his first season of Premiership football.Young gunsCB Harvard Nordtveit – Could feature in the Carling Cup.
